ABOUT

Rocío Navarro (b. 1991, Chihuahua, Mexico)

Through portraits and meticulous compositions, Rocío Navarro examines the physical and emotional distances of her own migration. Her artistic practice functions as an internal odyssey, reassembling a sense of home within unfamiliar or isolated landscapes. In her canvases, recurring figures are captured in moments of quiet action, surrounded by a domestic inventory of specific iconography and everyday objects that act as conduits for solace.

Now based in France, Navarro utilizes humor and mundane details to mediate a conversation on territorial loss, social resilience, and the personal quest for sanctuary. Her work translates the visual density of her heritage into a material narrative of self-discovery, inviting the viewer into a space where the boundaries between past and present blur.
